Sensors And IoT
Passport allows any third-party sensor data provider to share parking occupancy data with the city. Based on the different sensor types and their use cases, Passport captures use cases for following types of sensors:
Multi-space sensors report occupancy for more than one space. Providers will need to send the
sensor_occupancy_changedevent when there is a change in the count of spaces occupied.
Single-space sensors (i.e. pucks) report occupancy for a single space. The provider will need to send the
sensor_vehicle_enteredevent when the sensor detects a vehicle entering, and a
sensor_vehicle_exitedevent when the sensor detects a vehicle exiting.
Observations report sightings of vehicles at rest, but often do not capture entry and exit events. Providers need to send a
sensor_vehicle_observedevent when the sensor observes a vehicle.
